ABOUT ME

I am currently navigating the challenges of front temporal dementia, which has impacted my ability to manage complex tasks and articulate my thoughts clearly. I require assistance during the hours when my spouse is at work to ensure my safety both at home and in the community. I am seeking two dedicated Personal Care Assistants to cover various shifts. Support is needed for meal preparation when I am at home, along with light housekeeping duties. I have a passion for music, especially Rock and Roll, and I participate in a local choir. I enjoy engaging activities that stimulate my mind, such as playing cards and dominoes, as well as taking walks and visiting coffee shops.

JOB PURPOSE

The primary objective of this role is to provide support with daily activities in my home and during outings to ensure my safety, the security of my living environment, and the overall enhancement of my well-being.

WORK LOCATION

My residence is located in the Cyncoed area. There may be a need for travel to day centers and nearby locations. A full driving license with appropriate business insurance would be advantageous.

WORKING HOURS

The position requires a commitment of 20 hours per week, distributed as follows:

- Tuesday: 8am to 6pm

- Wednesday: 8am to 10am and 2pm to 6.30pm

- Thursday: 3pm to 6.30pm

Flexibility among the caregivers is essential to cover these hours and to accommodate annual leave or other absences, with only one Personal Assistant needed per shift.

COMPENSATION

The hourly rate for this position is £12.55.

RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE

- Ensuring my safety and well-being within my home environment.

- Providing support during community outings.

- Maintaining the security of my home when I am away.

- Preparing meals and offering refreshments throughout the day.

- Assisting with light household tasks.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualities:

- Reliability and punctuality.

- Respect for privacy and confidentiality of myself and my family.

- Flexibility and adaptability to meet my evolving needs.

- Ability to support the maintenance and development of relationships with friends and family.

- Capability to report any changes in my condition or incidents to my spouse or family members.

A female Personal Assistant is required due to the nature of the care involved.

DESIRABLE ATTRIBUTES

- High emotional intelligence, particularly in recognizing non-verbal cues.

- Previous experience working with individuals with dementia or similar conditions.

- Possession of a full driving license and access to a vehicle with business insurance.

- A love for music.

- Patience and a good sense of humor.
