Job Title: Hardware Systems Designer

Capula, a leading provider of advanced system integration, is seeking a skilled Hardware Systems Designer to join our team. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for designing and developing hardware systems for control panels, primarily focused on PLCs, MCCs, drives, and controls, as well as switchgear.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop electrical panels containing PLCs and LV distribution systems
  • Design electrical cabling and containment systems
  • Prepare and review necessary calculations and design
  • Collaborate with production to ensure designs are implemented correctly
  • Develop technical solutions to meet project and customer expectations
Requirements:
  • Knowledge of designing electrical panels containing PLCs and LV distribution systems
  • Design of electrical cabling and containment systems
  • Educated to at least degree level in a relevant subject or HND with additional experience on project implementation
  • Good working knowledge of AutoCAD Electrical, Microsoft Office Word & Excel
  • Ability to achieve security clearance to at least SC level, and possibly DV
  • Excellent communication skills for client contact and mentoring
  • Ability to mentor and develop engineers and technicians
  • Thorough understanding of, or working towards, BS7671 IEE 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
  • Understanding of IEC BS EN, Low-voltage switchgear and control gear assemblies
  • Confidence to work within a multidisciplinary design team
Desirable Requirements:
  • Worked previously in a highly regulated industry
  • Understanding of EMC practices
  • Will hold or will be working towards Chartered or Incorporated Engineering status
  • MEng qualification
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Site experience (survey/install)
