Ophthalmic Specialist

We are seeking an exceptional Consultant Ophthalmologist to join our team at Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our department, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our glaucoma and cataract services.
About the RoleThis is a full-time position (10PA's) that requires participation in a Consultant on-call rota and collaboration with other Consultant Ophthalmologists. You will work closely with our glaucoma consultant to ensure the efficient delivery of subspecialty services. Regular theatre lists and a commitment to multidisciplinary team working are also essential aspects of this role.
Main Duties- Provide evidence-based care for patients in a multidisciplinary setting.
- Develop and improve the glaucoma service.
- Conduct teaching, examination, and accreditation duties.
- Participate in clinical audit and continuing medical education.
- Contribute to the leadership and development of services under the direction of the Clinical Lead and Associate Medical Director.
- Work in partnership with colleagues in other Divisions within the Trust.
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Ophthalmologist who embodies the STAR values of the Trust. You will be GMC registered and hold a CCT (or equivalent) in the specialty of Ophthalmology. Alternatively, you can be within 6 months of your CCT at the time of interview.
As a key member of our Division, you will be accountable and responsible for leading changes to service that will improve the patient experience. You will work closely with the Clinical Lead and Associate Medical Director to achieve their objectives and contribute to the development of clinical policies and adherence to standing orders.
