About the Role

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Claims Administration Assistant to provide essential administrative support in the handling of insurance claims. This role is a temporary position within the Internal Audit, Corporate Governance and Insurance section of Financial Services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Data Entry and Management: Enter and record complete and accurate data related to claims on the council's claims database system.
  • Claims Processing: Process insurance claims in a timely manner, adhering to practice directions and corporate guidelines.
  • External Agency Liaison: Register claims with external agencies, including the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) Compensation Recovery Unit (CRU).
  • Team Collaboration: Liaise with the Claims Team, Claims Litigation section, and other parties on claims-related issues as required.
  • Customer Service: Respond to queries from officers, external organisations, and the public, providing supporting data when necessary.
  • Financial Management: Handle telephone enquiries, respond to voicemails, and raise accurate and timely payments within their Financial Management System (FMS).
  • Reporting and Progress: Report regularly to the Deputy Insurance Manager with progress reports and significant issues.
  • Work Environment: Work in a hybrid environment with an agreed split between office work and remote work from home.
Requirements
  • Communication Skills: Clear and professional communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Time Management: Ability to meet deadlines and objectives in line with corporate and legal priorities.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Redaction Techniques: Knowledge of redaction techniques for information disclosure.
  • Administrative Experience: Experience with administrative tasks within a financial ledger system.
  • Priority Setting: Experience in setting priorities and meeting targets in a fast-paced environment, preferably within an insurance and claims setting.
  • Teamwork: Team player with a commitment to meeting agreed objectives and key targets.
