About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Instrumentation and Control Engineer to join our Engineering team in either our Edinburgh or Glasgow office. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in delivering technical services required to deliver renewable energy projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Interpret user requirement specifications and develop functional design specifications.
  • Design and develop control and telecommunications architecture.
  • Develop and design the integration of control systems, focusing on system compatibility and communication protocols.
  • Identify input and output schedules, develop control schematics, and carry out control panel design (PLC/DCS) and junction box layouts.
  • Lead the testing and validation of control systems, including functional testing (FAT / iFAT / SAT), and field trials to ensure they meet design specifications and operational requirements.
  • Design and review engineering work packages, loop diagrams, wiring diagrams, data sheets, piping and instrumentation diagrams, mechanical package interconnection drawings.
  • Prepare various design calculations as required.
  • Specify instrumentation and control hardware ensuring functionality, material selection, and safety.
  • Review and check calculations, design models, and drawings prepared by others in the group and by material suppliers, as assigned.
  • Prepare cost estimations.
  • Work with designers in other disciplines within the project to coordinate designs, specifications, and requirements.
Requirements
  • 4+ years of engineering experience.
  • Electrical background specializing in communication, control/data acquisition, and electronics.
  • Experience in technical engagement with customers and other stakeholders.
  • Relationships and contacts within the industry desirable.
  • Willingness to travel when required.
  • Valid driving license.
