About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Strategic Planning Lead to join our team at Wiltshire Council.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage strategic and complex planning projects, ensuring alignment with Wiltshire Council's business plan and place-shaping objectives.
  • Facilitate community engagement and collaborate with stakeholders to promote appropriate development, driving economic growth and environmental protection.
  • Supervise and mentor less experienced officers, reviewing and approving their work to ensure it meets the Council's Local Plan, Scheme of Delegation, and national planning policy.
  • Develop and implement creative and innovative solutions to support sustainable development, in line with Wiltshire Council's vision for the future.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in strategic planning and development management, with a strong understanding of planning policy and legislation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders and community groups.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team of planning officers.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a flexible approach to working hours and tasks.
