We are seeking a skilled Nuclear Thermal Hydraulics Engineer to join our team in Derby. As a key member of our thermal hydraulics team, you will be responsible for conducting thermal hydraulic analyses of our products, including verification and validation activities, developing production analysis methods, and supporting design and manufacture through bespoke thermal hydraulic assessments.

About the Team

Our submarines business is responsible for the design, manufacture, supply, and through-life support of nuclear propulsion plants to provide pioneering power to the Royal Navy's submarine fleet. We are the UK thought leader for nuclear thermal hydraulics, employing cutting-edge analytical methods and championing the development of next-generation methods with academia and industry partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake thermal hydraulic analyses of our products, including verification and validation activities
  • Develop production analysis methods, including automation, data assimilation, and uncertainty quantification
  • Support design and manufacture through bespoke thermal hydraulic assessments
  • Connect with other centres of thermal hydraulic knowledge and skills, including industry partners, civil nuclear, and academia

Requirements

  • Experience in thermal hydraulics, fluid dynamics, and heat transfer
  • A strong academic background with a relevant degree in engineering, physics, or a scientific subject
