Nuclear Thermal Hydraulics Engineering Opportunities

We are seeking a skilled Nuclear Thermal Hydraulics Engineer to join our team in Derby.

Our submarines business is responsible for the design, manufacture, supply and through-life support of nuclear propulsion plants to provide pioneering power to the Royal Navy's submarine fleet.

As a Nuclear Thermal Hydraulics Engineer, you will work on assessing the performance and safety of the reactor core, ensuring adequate heat transfer throughout its operational life.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing production analysis methods, including automation, data assimilation and uncertainty quantification.
  • Conducting technical analysis of the core, plant, and specific components in support of safety cases.
  • Supporting design and manufacture through bespoke thermal hydraulic assessments of our existing and future products.

Requirements:

  • Experience in thermal hydraulics, fluid dynamics and heat transfer.
  • A strong academic background with a relevant degree (undergraduate, masters, or PhD) in engineering, physics or a scientific subject.
  • Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance.
