About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Global Procurement Manager to join our team at American Express. As a key member of our procurement organization, you will play a critical role in shaping our global procurement strategy and ensuring the effective management of our contracts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the global suite of GSM procurement contracting templates, ensuring they remain up-to-date with legal requirements and making them available on our contract management system.
  • Lead GSM reviewer and subject matter expert for the Information Protection Contract Requirements (IPCR), ensuring compliance with data protection, information security, and privacy requirements.
  • Act as a key contact for SS&BE with respect to compliance projects across the Enterprise that impact third parties and/or the procurement contracting process.
  • Liaise with Regulatory Change Management (RCM) team and act as Project Manager with respect to RCM entries that impact the procurement contracting process.
  • Lead projects to enhance internal GSM systems and drive better working practices, including developing Conga contract redlining functionality and AI enhancements.
  • Support Contract Managers with day-to-day contracting queries arising out of supplier negotiations, providing up-front guidance on contracting approach and structure.
  • Plan, coordinate, and lead the monthly 'GSM Information Share' meetings across regions, sharing topical information and leading contract training initiatives.
  • Work with ESG and Diversity leads to ensure GSM documents and processes remain at the forefront of best practice for these developing workstreams.
Requirements
  • A degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field (law, business management, supply chain management desirable).
  • Extensive, broad-based sourcing, category management, and/or contract management experience.
  • Experience and proven track record required in complex contract negotiations, with the ability to effectively redline and offer solutions to supplier pushbacks.
  • Proven ability to draft and develop project plans, including key milestones, critical paths, roadblocks, risks, next steps, and a risk-based approach.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills to work across a wide range of teams and build effective working relationships.
  • Desire to learn and continuously search for industry best practices and find creative solutions.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and fluid business environment.
  • Understanding of Third Party Lifecycle Management would be advantageous.
