Job Summary:

The Civil Aviation Authority is seeking a highly skilled Government Relations Lead to join our team. As a key member of our Strategy Team, you will play a critical role in strengthening our government relations function and enhancing our day-to-day engagement with government.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead the Development and Coordination of Government Grants Programme: Manage the development, coordination, delivery, and oversight of our Government Grants programme, working closely with CAA programme leads and ExCo sponsors to enhance our government grant delivery and reporting.
  2. Manage the CAA's Relationship with DfT: Oversee and manage the CAA's relationship with the Department for Transport (DfT), ensuring consistency, credibility, and strategic coherence in all communications, including supporting, advising, and directing ExCo members in their engagement with colleagues in government.
  3. Lead Cross-Organisational Workstreams: Manage key cross-organisational workstreams, ensuring senior workstream leads across the business are working to coordinated aims and delivering effectively, while at the same time ensuring their input into CAA strategy and government engagement is timely and impactful.
  4. Coordinate Responses to Strategic Questions and Challenges: Work closely with the Head of Strategy and Horizon Scanning & Insight Lead to coordinate responses to key strategic questions, challenges, and opportunities via appropriate vehicles, and feed outcomes into relevant workstreams across the organisation.
  5. Experience and Qualifications: Have experience of working closely with government or working in a Civil Service role in central government, or a regulator / Arms-Length Body and show a strong understanding of ALB oversight, government funding, and reporting.
  6. Financial Management and Public Policy Development: Have an understanding of financial management / financial strategy and the CAA's funding model and government funding approach, as well as public policy development and associated first-principles based policy development, consultation, and engagement.
