Position Overview
Elysium Healthcare is seeking a GMC registered Psychiatry doctor with a strong background in collaborative psychiatric care.
If you are located within a one-hour commute from our facility and are interested in a flexible role as part of a dedicated team of Bank Resident Medical Officers, we have opportunities available for covering shifts from 5pm to 9am during weekdays and around the clock on weekends, with a total of 128 hours accessible weekly. Weekend shifts will be rotated among RMOs, ensuring a balanced schedule.
While you will not be contractually required to fulfill all available hours, we do ask for advance notice regarding any changes to your schedule. Your hourly rate will include provisions for annual leave and sick pay, and mileage will be reimbursed through a claims process.
In this role, you will be part of a newly established 42-bed mental health facility, providing essential care and treatment for individuals who have experienced trauma and are dealing with various mental health challenges.
As a Resident Medical Officer, your responsibilities will include delivering high-quality clinical services to our patients, participating in seclusion reviews, addressing escalated incidents promptly, conducting comprehensive physical health assessments for new admissions, and collaborating effectively with your colleagues to ensure that patients receive the necessary medical treatment.
This position emphasizes teamwork and communication, with a proactive approach to sourcing cover within the medical team.
Work Environment
You will be an integral part of our new team at this innovative 42-bed service, dedicated to treating individuals who have faced trauma and are affected by mental health disorders.
Our care model is trauma-informed, focusing on minimizing the length of stay to facilitate a swift and safe transition for individuals to the most suitable and least restrictive environment.
Our service users may present with a range of conditions, including acute mental illness, psychosis, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, personality disorders, dual diagnoses, self-harm, and substance misuse issues.
Key Responsibilities of the RMO Doctor
- Assess the mental state and physical health of service users.
- Ensure effective handover to fellow medical staff.
- Take the lead in managing any physical health issues that arise during the inpatient stay.
- Gather collateral history from other professionals and family members.
- Complete admission assessments promptly.
- Collaborate with colleagues to guarantee that patients have access to appropriate medical treatment at all times, including referrals to local emergency departments when necessary.
- Attend monthly clinical and managerial supervision sessions.
Qualifications for the Bank RMO Doctor Role
- Full GMC registration is required.
- Proven experience in psychiatry within multi-disciplinary teams.
- An appraisal or RITA within the last year is essential.
- A minimum of one year’s experience in Psychiatry is necessary.
- Experience in a PICU or secure services is desirable.
