Position Overview

Venesky-Brown is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to join a public sector organization. This role is designed for a contract period with the possibility of extension, offering a competitive hourly rate. The position supports a hybrid work model, allowing for a blend of remote and in-office work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Generate precise and timely financial reports for management analysis, consolidation, and external dissemination, including significant contributions to the Annual Report and other corporate documents.
  • Ensure compliance with all financial transactions in accordance with applicable accounting standards and regulations, including the Scottish Public Finance Manual (SPFM), Finance Reporting Manual (FReM), IFRS, and HMRC guidelines.
  • Oversee balance sheet management and reconciliation, providing expert advice on technical accounting matters, including asset valuations and lease accounting.
  • Establish and uphold robust financial processes and controls, offering guidance and support to the organization and its stakeholders.
  • Lead and mentor a small team, fostering engagement, professional growth, and addressing their wellbeing needs.
  • Act as a deputy for the Senior Financial Accountant when required.

Required Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a financial setting, with the capability to analyze and interpret financial data to facilitate decision-making while ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey financial concepts clearly and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Advanced analytical abilities utilizing various tools, including Excel, to formulate informed options and support data-driven decisions.
  • Self-driven professional, adept at managing priorities and adapting to changes to meet deadlines.
  • Must possess a CCAB qualification (or equivalent) with current Continuing Professional Development (CPD). Exceptional candidates nearing completion of their professional exams may also be considered.
