A strong background in Respiratory and Sleep Physiology is essential, along with a BSc in Clinical Physiology/Healthcare Science or a comparable qualification. Eligibility for AHCS/RCCP registration is required, and holding Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) or Registered Sleep Technologist (RST) credentials is advantageous.

Job Duties
The successful candidate will provide specialized clinical physiology expertise in respiratory and sleep services, ensuring optimal care principles are upheld for patients at Medway Maritime Hospital and the Community Diagnostic Centres.
Flexibility in working hours is essential, as the role may require day and night shifts based on service demand, including responsibilities across multiple locations.
Training will be provided as necessary in each area of expertise.
Responsibilities include performing a variety of basic to complex respiratory assessments, such as full lung function testing (Spirometry, static lung volumes, and gas transfer), bronchodilator reversibility testing, FENO, and the 6-minute walk test. You will provide comprehensive technical analysis and reporting of results for medical staff, aiding in patient diagnosis and treatment.
Additionally, you will independently conduct a range of routine and complex sleep studies, contributing to the diagnosis and management of patients with sleep disorders, including overnight oximetry, actigraphy, limited polysomnography, and overnight polysomnography studies with MSLT as required. Full interpretation and analysis of sleep studies will be expected.
You will also guide patients on CPAP usage, set up CPAP therapy, and manage follow-up consultations for patients with OSA and OHS through New Patient and Annual Review Clinics.
Monitoring patients during overnight polysomnography studies is crucial, ensuring the quality of recordings for accurate analysis, and making necessary adjustments to equipment during the study.
It is essential to assess the severity of results, promptly informing medical staff of any life-threatening or urgent findings, and adhering to established procedures for managing urgent and non-urgent results.
Responsibilities also include maintaining the cleanliness and functionality of all sleep equipment, promptly reporting any issues to the relevant departments.
