Your Role

This full-time position places you within a vibrant team operating across various locations. As our new Senior Legal Advisor, you will handle non-contentious issues, focusing on intricate contractual arrangements. Your responsibilities will include identifying and managing legal risks, negotiating and drafting contracts, and providing practical legal counsel. You will also support contract-related matters throughout the project lifecycle and play a crucial role in enhancing legal awareness within Ramboll through training initiatives.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Reviewing construction professional services contracts (both bespoke and standard forms such as NEC and JCT) and other project-related legal documents, ensuring efficient contract negotiations.
  • Offering tailored advice to the Executive Board regarding contractual risks and preparing necessary documentation.
  • Engaging in diverse projects with a focus on transport and offshore wind initiatives.
  • Advising project leaders on contractual risks before and during project execution.
  • Collaborating with Finance and Commercial Teams for contract support and internal governance.
  • Leading or assisting in negotiations with external clients or their representatives.
  • Addressing internal legal inquiries.
  • Providing guidance on appropriate contract forms and specific legal matters in a commercially viable manner.
  • Creating guidelines and forms for internal use.
  • Occasionally conducting and delivering legal training sessions.

About You

You will be a legal advisor or construction lawyer with experience in evaluating professional appointments, frameworks, collateral warranties, novation agreements, and related documents. To excel in this role, you should possess a legal background with substantial experience in advising on complex engineering or construction contracts, whether as an in-house legal advisor or contract manager. Applications from private practice solicitors are also welcomed.

Your qualifications will include:

  • A degree or equivalent qualifications in law.
  • Extensive experience providing in-house legal support in a consultancy or engineering context or advising clients in a law firm.
  • A comprehensive understanding of contract and construction law along with associated risks.
  • Commercial insight and the ability to balance risks effectively.
  • Experience in drafting and negotiating complex construction or consultancy contracts.
  • Exceptional communication skills with strong interpersonal abilities.
  • Excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • The capability to work independently in a dynamic environment.
  • The ability to prioritize effectively and meet deadlines.
