Children and Young People Support Worker

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Children, Young People and Families Development Worker to join our team at Stonewater. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering person-centred, age-appropriate, strengths-based support to children and young people affected by domestic violence and abuse living in our domestic abuse refuge accommodation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a caseload of children and young people through their journey with Stonewater's domestic abuse service, ensuring a strengths-based approach that enables them to realise their potential.
- Offer support, advocacy and information to all children and young people and produce individual support plans for each child and young person that include actions identified and required from assessments.
- Work closely alongside the team to offer awareness and co-delivery of support.
- Develop and implement our Children, Young People and Family Support Programme, and build a good working relationship with parents and develop effective partnership working to achieve best value and quality in delivery of the service.
Requirements:
- Hold a Level 3 qualification (i.e. NNEB, Health & Social Care) or equivalent.
- Have proven experience of working with Children and Young People.
- Have experience of organising and providing appropriate play and other activities.
- Have an in-depth understanding of the impact of domestic violence on children and young people.
- Be able to work in a non-judgemental way, recognising different and individual needs children may have.
- Understand and be committed to compliance in Safeguarding and Child Protection.
- Be able to build and develop supportive relationships with women and their children, whilst maintaining professional boundaries.
- Have proven caseload management experience, with a clear focus on outcomes for customers and their wider community.
- Be able to demonstrate partnership working with specialist agencies such as mental health teams, offending services and other relevant services.
- Have exceptional communication skills.
- Be able to work under pressure and using your own initiative.
- Be able to work positively and creatively with support needs.
- Have experience of using a Housing Management System, or similar software.
What We Offer:
Appointment to this role will be subject to a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service Check, satisfactory references and possession of a valid Right to Work document.
Working Arrangements:
Due to the nature of the role, you will be flexible in your approach, working hours on a five day rota, which may include bank holidays as well as evenings and weekends when required. There is also an on call rota.
