Job Title: Head of Property

The Head of Property is a key role within the Diocese of Canterbury, responsible for leading the strategic management of the Diocese's assets, including property development, investment, and maintenance. This role requires a strong understanding of property law, asset management, and leadership skills to drive maximum return from property and land assets.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the strategic management of the Diocese's assets, including property development, investment, and maintenance.
  • Develop and implement property strategies to maximize income and capital returns.
  • Manage the Property Services Team, overseeing the management of all clergy and other housing within the Diocese.
  • Ensure maintenance and improvements are performed within agreed timeframes and budgets.
  • Provide high-level advice to parishes on property matters, particularly in cases where the Diocese acts as custodian trustee.
  • Represent the Diocese's interests in property-related matters, including negotiations with contractors and stakeholders.
  • Manage the property budget, taking part in budget reviews and budget setting in partnership with the Director of Finance and Finance & Assets Committee.
Requirements:
  • MRICS qualified or equivalent experience in property management and asset management.
  • Proven leadership experience, including strategic property development and resource planning.
  • Strong understanding of property law, asset management, and financial controls.
  • Ability to drive maximum return from property and land assets.
  • Experience of property disposals and purchases, including negotiations with contractors and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work effectively with stakeholders, including parishes, contractors, and other Diocesan teams.
