Job Title: Head of Property

The Head of Property is a key role within the Diocese of Canterbury, responsible for leading the strategic management of the Diocese's assets, including property development, investment, and maintenance. This role requires a strong understanding of property law, asset management, and leadership skills to drive maximum return from property and land assets.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the strategic management of the Diocese's assets, including property development, investment, and maintenance.
  • Manage the Property Services Team, overseeing the management of all clergy and other housing within the Diocese.
  • Ensure maintenance and improvements are performed within agreed timeframes and budgets.
  • Provide an excellent and friendly service to clergy and their households.
  • Maximise rental income from vacant housing and glebe land.
  • Support parishes and protect their interests by advising on decision-making regarding their buildings.
  • Represent, protect, and advance the interests of PCCs, Incumbents, and Churchwardens.
  • Manage the property budget, taking part in budget reviews and budget setting.
Requirements:
  • MRICS qualified or equivalent experience in the property sector.
  • Experience of working in asset management, residential property management, and landlord and tenant relations.
  • Proven leadership experience, including strategic property development and resource planning.
  • Knowledge of driving maximum return from property and/or land assets.
  • Understanding of Property Law and experience of property disposals and purchases.
  • Ability to manage and review substantial budgets and exercise strict financial controls.
