Position Overview

Role: Senior Mechanical Engineer (Pressure Vessels)

Our client specializes in delivering both bespoke product designs and comprehensive turnkey solutions for process plant projects across diverse sectors, including food production, beverage processing, and pharmaceutical manufacturing.

Job Responsibilities:
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will collaborate with the design team to assist in the design, engineering analysis, and compliance verification of their products.

You will be part of a dedicated team of five engineers focused on the design of pressure vessels, boilers, and storage tanks for a variety of clients and industries.

Company Growth:
This organization is a small to medium-sized enterprise with a workforce of 35 employees, currently experiencing significant growth due to an influx of new projects, leading to an expansion of their engineering teams.

Client Engagement:
The company primarily serves clients throughout the UK, with occasional international projects, necessitating adherence to design and manufacturing standards such as PD5500, ASME VIII, and PBSR.

Key Qualifications:
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer with expertise in pressure vessel design and implementation, including:

  • Piping and insulated/jacketed piping design

Core Responsibilities:
This role entails ensuring the structural integrity of pressure vessels, boilers, and storage tanks through meticulous calculations and the preparation of technical documentation for submission to regulatory bodies.

Technical Skills Required:
- Proficient in SolidWorks for creating concept designs, product designs, and manufacturing drawings.
- Experience with PV Elite for design calculations, analysis, and evaluations.
- Ability to conduct hazard analyses, assess essential safety requirements (ESR), and perform particular material appraisals (PMA).

Educational Background:
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Prior experience in mechanical design engineering.

Additional Skills:
- Proficiency in PD5500 or ASME vessel design calculations.
- Familiarity with SolidWorks or similar CAD software.
- Capability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
