Carrington West is seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join their team on a 6-month contract basis. This is an exciting opportunity to work on high-profile nuclear and defence projects in the secure sector.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting technical aspects of project delivery, including forecasting, change management, risk management, and reporting on project progress. Key deliverables will include:

  • Producing and checking calculations and authoring technical documents
  • Supporting the development, implementation, and sharing of best practice through the engineering community and formal recording systems
  • Designing and calculating acceptable performance
  • Maintaining mechanical experience, including calculations, design reports, DFMEAs, FMEAs, tolerance stack-ups, and drawing experience

The ideal candidate will have a degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, with Chartered status preferred. They will also have:

  • Nuclear experience
  • Design knowledge in nuclear engineering, including design, analysis, and technical substantiation
  • Familiarity with working to design codes and industry standards, such as ASME, Eurocodes, BS EN13001, and RCC-M
  • Experience with high-integrity mechanical handling equipment, including nuclear de-fuelling, fuelling, and waste manoeuvring
  • Active clearances
