Job Description

A forward-thinking company, specializing in commercial construction, is seeking a highly experienced Quantity Surveyor to join its established Commercial team in the Midlands region.

The ideal candidate will be a seasoned Assistant Quantity Surveyor looking to take on a more senior role, or a Quantity Surveyor with a proven track record of delivering cost and value analysis, financial forecasting, and contract management services.

As a key member of the Commercial Management team, the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing two large-scale construction projects across the Midlands, ensuring accurate site valuations, contract variations, and cost control.

The role will involve:

  • Cost Control and Budgeting: Developing and implementing cost control strategies to ensure projects are delivered within budget.
  • Negotiation: Collaborating with clients, contractors, and suppliers to negotiate contracts and resolve disputes.
  • Subcontract Orders: Managing subcontractor relationships, ensuring timely delivery, and maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Valuations: Conducting site valuations, analyzing costs, and providing accurate financial reports.
  • Cost Value Reconciliation: Reconciling costs, identifying discrepancies, and implementing corrective actions.
  • Subcontracts Management: Overseeing subcontractor performance, ensuring compliance with contracts, and resolving issues.
  • Variation: Managing contract variations, ensuring changes are properly documented, and costs are accurately reflected.
  • Final Accounts: Preparing and finalizing project accounts, ensuring accuracy, and compliance with contractual requirements.
  • Benchmarking and Analysis of Build Costs: Conducting cost benchmarking, analyzing build costs, and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Cost Engineering: Developing and implementing cost engineering strategies to optimize project costs.

The successful candidate will possess:

  • A degree (or HNC) in Quantity Surveying or a related field.
  • A minimum of 4 years of practical experience in Quantity Surveying, preferably in a housebuilding or main contracting environment.
  • Demonstrable experience of overseeing large-scale construction projects, with a proven track record of delivering cost and value analysis, financial forecasting, and contract management services.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients, contractors, and suppliers.

The company offers a competitive salary package, including:

  • £40,000 - £55,000 basic salary (dependent on experience) + package.
