We are looking for a skilled professional to join our public sector division as an Assistant Manager, responsible for VAT compliance and advisory services for a diverse range of public sector clients. Your primary duty will involve managing a portfolio of clients, ensuring all aspects of their VAT needs are met. You will provide essential support to Managers and Senior Managers in delivering client services and may engage in special assignments and advisory projects as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct ad-hoc audit and consultancy assignments.
- Oversee the daily delivery of audit and compliance services.
- Exhibit strong client account and relationship management skills.
- Provide exceptional client service and maintain regular communication with client teams.
- Stay updated with the latest technical developments.
- Manage budgeting and compliance fee monitoring.
- Collaborate with senior team members, including Partners and Directors, as necessary.
- Conduct performance appraisals and monitor staff performance.
- Provide on-the-job training and mentoring for junior staff, including guidance on technical and procedural matters.
- Address staff inquiries effectively.
- Ensure adherence to procedures in line with relevant guidelines.
- Meet department billing and recovery targets.
- Encourage cross-referrals by understanding the broader capabilities of the firm.
- Support marketing and business development initiatives as required.
Key Skills and Experience:
- Relevant VAT experience within the profession or industry.
- Proficient VAT advisor capable of assisting with complex client matters.
- Outstanding organizational and communication abilities.
- Eager to expand technical knowledge and skills.
- Strong IT proficiency, particularly with Microsoft Office applications.
- Beginning to gain experience in staff management and mentoring.
- Ability to inspire staff to achieve optimal performance.
- Demonstrated capability to organize multiple assignments simultaneously.
- Effective communication skills for liaising with clients, directors, and colleagues.
- Proven experience in supervising others and delegating tasks.
- Demonstrated experience in managing a small client portfolio.
