Machine Operator Trainee

Job Purpose:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our Production team as an apprentice to gain a level 2 Lean Manufacturing Operative qualification while providing support to the Machine Operators with machine-specific functions.

Responsibilities:

  • To carry out pre-checks and cleaning tasks of the production line.
  • Set the machine to production recipes.
  • Prepare raw materials for production.
  • Replenish packaging and films to the production line during the shift, including the stacking of trays.
  • Set up batches of production as per the production plan.
  • Manual handling, including the stacking of finished goods.
  • Maintain the hygiene of equipment.
  • Complete documentation throughout the shift.
  • Replenish the PH.
  • Record downtime and work with the team to help minimize this.
  • Assist in resolving machine stoppages.
  • Achieve OEE and waste targets.
  • Work as part of a team.
  • Maintain health and safety and always adhere to policies and procedures.
  • Contribute to and help implement continuous improvement, to enhance quality, efficiency, safety, and waste reduction.
  • Help and assist in the training of others and identify own training needs.
  • Any other ad-hoc duties as required.

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:

  • 3 GCSEs or equivalent, including Maths and English.
  • The ability to work on own initiative and be a self-starter.
  • Able to work to targets and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A high level of attention to detail.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Keeps calm under pressure.
  • The individual should be highly motivated and results-oriented, with a strong willingness to learn.
  • A team player.
  • Punctual and reliable.
  • Keen interest in Machine Operations.
  • Strong desire to learn and develop.

Shift Pattern:

  • 4 On 4 Off (Days) - 6am to 6pm.
  • 4 On 4 Off (Nights) - 6pm to 6am.
