About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Control Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will have strong technical and analytical skills, as well as leadership ability, to help us develop innovative solutions.

Working closely with our military customers and industry partners, there are many opportunities for travel, trials, and for staff secondments to industry and other MoD organisations.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Support the team to further develop an existing 6 degrees-of-freedom model, using it to evaluate the feasibility and performance of air vehicle & missile concepts against given requirements.
  2. Be involved with concept analysis, autopilot synthesis and guidance loop design across all of the flight phases.
  3. Be involved in the assessment of the flying qualities of air vehicles concepts, including stability, agility, manoeuvrability, and precision.
  4. Assist with the generation of GNC algorithms, subsystem models and specifications, trajectory and performance data for industry partners to develop a fully functioning technology demonstrator.
  5. Software development or prototyping, preferably Matlab/Simulink.
  6. Good communications skills (verbal and presentational).
  7. Technical report writing experience.
  8. Work to project timelines and deliver results to a wide variety of audiences.
  9. Problem solving and ability to think and work innovatively.
  10. A Bachelor's or Master's degree with strong mathematical content in a relevant scientific, engineering or numerate discipline.
  11. Experience in defence programmes or projects.
  12. Experience with formal software version control.
  13. Experience in applying the GNC disciplines in a project-based weapon design cycle.
  14. PhD in a relevant scientific or engineering field.
