Job Summary:
1st Step Solutions is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Project Engineer to join our team on a secured Life Sciences project in the commercial sector. As a Mechanical Project Engineer, you will be responsible for the delivery of mechanical elements on commercial projects, working under the guidance of a Project Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
- Attend and host team meetings to ensure effective communication and project progress.
- Lead and issue meeting notes for technical and progress workshop meetings to facilitate decision-making and action planning.
- Review tender information, including design drawings, specifications, and equipment schedules, to ensure compliance and accuracy.
- Deliver design and working drawings necessary to deliver the project, capturing any additional costs and programme delays caused by external influences.
- Produce and technical compliance check technical submissions against specifications and ER documents to ensure quality and accuracy.
- Develop a commissioning strategy for the installation, ensuring a smooth and efficient process.
- Manage procurement, value engineering, and better buying against tender allowances to optimize project costs.
- Programme the works and sub-contract packages, ensuring timely completion and effective resource allocation.
- Produce and manage programmes, ensuring project progress and milestones are met.
- Report to the Project Manager, providing regular updates on project status and progress.
- Manage installation and commissioning activities of assigned packages, ensuring quality and safety standards are met.
- Handover documentation, including record drawings, test, and commission, to ensure a smooth transition.
- Ensure all variation costs are advised to the Project Manager and QS, maintaining accurate project records.
- Control costs, liaising with the project surveyor to assist the Project Manager with the monthly PFR report.
- Ensure quality control, identifying and addressing any quality issues promptly.
- Control risk, programme, and commercial, ensuring project objectives are met in a timely manner.
Requirements:
- HNC/HNC in Building Services Engineering or similar.
- CSCS/SMSTS.
- Experience of working at a senior level on M&E projects, ideally with responsibility for full contract management.
- Capability to accept responsibilities and accomplish project objectives in a timely manner.
- Good computer skills, especially with Microsoft Office.
- Awareness of health and safety requirements and the continual assessment/control of risk.
- Ability to actively contribute to the team (internal and client team).
