About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our team at Birtwistles Food Group. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our production facilities, maintaining high standards of hygiene and safety, and providing technical support to our production staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement maintenance schedules to ensure optimal plant performance and minimize downtime.
  • Conduct regular inspections and maintenance tasks to ensure all plant and equipment are in good working order.
  • Manage external contractors and ensure all work is completed to company standards and within agreed timeframes.
  • Develop and implement training programs to ensure all staff have the necessary skills and knowledge to operate equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Collaborate with production staff to identify and resolve technical issues and improve overall production efficiency.
  • Ensure all maintenance records are accurate and up-to-date, and provide regular reports to management.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in a maintenance or engineering role, preferably in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, including 17th Edition Electrical Standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with production staff and external contractors.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong focus on safety and quality.
  • Relevant qualifications, such as ONC, HNC, NVQ, BTEC Level 3, or City and Guilds.
