About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our team at Birtwistles Food Group. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our production facilities, maintaining high standards of hygiene and safety, and providing technical support to our production staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement maintenance plans to ensure optimal plant performance and minimize downtime.
  • Conduct regular maintenance and repairs on plant and equipment, ensuring all work is carried out to the highest standards.
  • Manage external contractors and ensure all work is completed to company requirements and within defined time scales.
  • Develop and implement training programs to ensure all relevant personnel have the necessary skills and knowledge to operate machinery safely and effectively.
  • Ensure all plant and equipment are properly calibrated and maintained, and that all engineering records are accurately maintained and presented in a timely manner.
  • Liaise with production staff and management to resolve engineering issues and ensure production requirements are met.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in a maintenance or engineering role, preferably in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid qualifications in a relevant field, such as ONC, HNC, NVQ, BTEC Level 3, City and Guilds, or equivalent.

Working Hours

Base working hours are Monday to Friday, with additional flexibility where required to meet the needs of the business and in the event of emergency call-outs.
