The University of Glasgow is seeking to appoint three research interns to assist with the initiatives of its research groups. This role involves providing support to various research teams within the institution.
(The relevant teams include Corporate and Financial Law; Criminal Law; International Law, Conflict and Security; Legal Theory; Private Law; Public Law and the Scottish Civil Justice Hub.) The selected candidates will collaborate with research group leaders and the University's Directors of Research to facilitate research-related events, manage communications, and assist with the dissemination of information regarding research activities and projects.
These positions are fixed-term appointments. Key Responsibilities 1.To offer academic assistance to designated research teams within the University of Glasgow, aimed at developing funded research projects, conferences, and other scholarly initiatives aligned with the institution's research strategy.
2.To aid in the execution of research-related events, which includes communication with participants and attendees, managing publicity, liaising with other University staff, and providing practical support during the events.
3. To assist in promoting events and research activities, including writing newsletters and creating social media content when appropriate. 4. To provide research support on projects within the relevant subject area. 5. To help manage research activities within the subject area. 6.To take charge of establishing short-term priorities and organizing work within a set plan or schedule to meet project deadlines and maintain high standards.
7. Any additional tasks assigned by the Directors of Research or heads of research teams.Required Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills, and Experience Knowledge/Qualifications Essential: A1 An Honours degree in Law (minimum high upper second class honours) or an Honours degree in another discipline followed by a graduate degree in Law.
A2 A thorough and current understanding of the subject area. Desirable B1 Proficiency in one or more areas covered by the University's research teams.
Skills Essential: C1 Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written.
C2 Strong interpersonal and presentation skills.
C3 Effective time management abilities.
C4 Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
C5 Ability to work with minimal supervision.
C6 Self-driven and motivated.
C7 Capacity to accept collective responsibilities and act accordingly. C9 Ability to perform under pressure and meet challenging deadlines.
C10 Competence in handling sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
Experience Essential: E1 Background in legal research and writing.
E2 Demonstrated ability to achieve objectives efficiently and on time. Employment Terms Salary will be at Grade 6, £32,332 - £36,024 per annum. This position is full-time (35 hours per week) and fixed-term for up to 12 months.
