We are seeking a motivated Research Fellow to aid in the advancement of pioneering 3D scanning methodologies for railway track Switches and Crossings. This role involves participation in the XCROSS project, which is designed to transform railway maintenance practices. Collaborate with a varied consortium of top-tier universities, software and sensor firms, railway operators, and industry organizations.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Engage in innovative research and impactful global activities.
  • Assess hardware and software requirements for on-site 3D scanning of crossings.
  • Execute laser scanning operations at multiple railway locations across Europe.
  • Create algorithms for the manipulation of 3D point clouds and computer vision applications.

**Qualifications:**

  • PhD in railway engineering, 3D scanning, or computer vision.
  • Position based at the University of Leeds campus with adaptable working arrangements.
