Role Overview
In light of recent achievements and expansion within the organization, Turner & Townsend's Birmingham office is seeking a Senior Risk Consultant to join and play a pivotal role in our accomplished Risk team. We are in search of a client-facing Senior Risk Manager with a background in consulting on Construction Infrastructure projects and engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders.
The primary objective of this position is to implement or assist in the implementation of a cohesive risk management framework across a significant capital program or project. Key responsibilities will encompass, but are not limited to, the following:
- Leading risk commissions and managing teams effectively.
- Collaborating with various companies and stakeholders to identify, evaluate, and prioritize risks, opportunities, and issues.
- Maintaining awareness of risk trigger points to facilitate risk cost profiling, timely utilization of risk budgets, or mitigation of threats/opportunities.
- Monitoring overall risk exposure and evaluating it against the remaining risk budget and project timeline.
- Proactively overseeing the completion of management responses.
- Working with the supply chain to evaluate contractor responsibility risks and their perspectives on client risks that may affect their delivery capabilities.
- Producing and presenting tailored risk reports promptly to support effective communication regarding threat and opportunity status and necessary senior management actions.
- Conducting quantitative risk assessments (cost and schedule) to inform project contingency and time risk allowance levels. Candidates should demonstrate proficiency with tools such as @risk, Safran, PRA, or similar.
- Presenting key risk findings to clients, including assurance of supply chain risk management performance.
- Familiarity with web-based database/reporting tools such as ARM, Xactium, Predict, Tableau, and PowerBI.
- Managing commissions and developing and delivering risk services.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of Quantitative Schedule Risk Assessments and Quantitative Cost Risk Assessments (QRSA's and QRCA's) and will have experience with software such as Primavera Risk Analysis, @risk, and/or Safran. Proven industry experience in infrastructure, construction, engineering, or management consultancy is essential.
Candidates should ideally demonstrate the following skills:
- A comprehensive understanding of developing and implementing integrated risk management solutions across portfolios, programs, and projects.
- Facilitation of Risk and Scenario Analysis workshops.
- Strong grasp of Project Controls methodology and its interaction with risk management.
- Experience engaging with senior management on risk management matters.
- Proven experience in a risk delivery role on major projects/programs or with blue-chip companies.
- IRM/APM risk certification is preferred but not mandatory.
