About Our Team

AECOM's Impact Assessment Practice Area (IAPA) team is seeking a graduate to join our Manchester office for a June 2025 start. Our team is part of the Environment & Sustainability (E&S) business, which provides environment and sustainability solutions for public and private sector clients.

We are at the forefront of efforts to tackle the climate and biodiversity emergencies. Our IAPA work includes coordinating multidisciplinary environmental inputs, working with clients and design teams to identify environmental constraints, and delivering environmental assessment reports.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinating environmental inputs across infrastructure development projects
  • Working with clients and design teams to identify environmental constraints and develop solutions
  • Delivering environmental assessment reports
  • Post-planning consent support to projects

We need people with inquiring minds who can ask the questions to understand and shape projects to achieve environmentally beneficial outcomes. The ability to work with people with different perspectives is essential to understand what clients really need.

We like people with an appetite to learn and develop, taking personal responsibility, but understanding how to confirm that we are getting to a good outcome.

Our 2-year graduate ADVANCE programme is designed to help you build your career in AECOM. You will attend a number of instructor-led training sessions, engage with an online curriculum via AECOM University, and have the opportunity to join the ADVANCE webinar series.

We will provide you with all the support and tools you need to achieve your professional development ambitions, which may include Chartership with the relevant international professional institution.

Qualifications

Relevant first or post-graduate degree subjects include environmental impact assessment, environmental economics, environmental management, environmental planning, environmental policy, environmental science, geography, housing, social science, and sustainable development.

  • A good understanding of digital solutions to assist in tackling environment and sustainability challenges
  • Willingness and ability to travel, with a full driving licence or access to reliable transport
  • Ability to work flexibly under pressure, responding to changing project and programme demands
  • Good communications skills, with the confidence to engage with a variety of people
  • Ability to work as a team
  • Time Management - Work within schedules to coordinate the completion of tasks
  • Willingness and ability to learn
  • Strong research and report writing skills
  • Ability to summarise technical information effectively
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office
  • Strong numerate skills
