Financial Controller - Supply Chain

We are proud to represent our client, a large-scale not-for-profit organisation, in their search for a Financial Controller. Reporting to the Finance Director, this role is a key leadership position that requires a self-motivated, impactful, and qualified accountant with strong experience in financial reporting, financial processes, and controls, as well as change management.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Manage the Group Accounting function, consisting of a team of nine qualified and part-qualified accountants and a large transactional finance team.
  2. Ensure the production of timely, accurate management accounts, as well as the provision of financial information to trustees and the Finance Committee.
  3. Be responsible for the statutory audited accounts and serve as the key contact point for the external audit.
  4. Other areas of responsibility include cash flow forecasts, ensuring legal compliance with tax, VAT, gift aid, treasury management, and providing technical accounting advice to ensure robust financial governance.
  5. Ensure effective processes and controls are in place in the finance transactional teams to manage and improve working capital.
  6. Lead the team on the reconciliation, control, and reporting of financial information, including the submission of gift aid and VAT returns.
  7. Ensure the treasury function maximises the return to the organisation on working capital and investments.
  8. Act as the key point of contact for the charity's bankers and investment managers.
  9. Act as the financial lead on the financial control environment and the counter fraud framework, driving improvements in counter fraud awareness and culture.
  10. Improve financial controls from a counter fraud perspective.
  11. Hold an ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualification and have significant financial accounting experience.
  12. Experience in leading a group accounting and management accounting function of a large and complex organisation, including treasury management.
  13. Experience in the preparation of management accounts and income and expenditure and cash flow forecasts.
