Position Summary
We are looking for an Operational Technology Specialist to join our Transmission Operational Technology team. As part of the Technology Operations unit, your primary responsibility will be to support the Transmission Control Centre with all Operational Technology applications. This includes addressing requests and troubleshooting issues, enhancing proactive monitoring, minimizing repetitive incidents, and reducing system failures across our diverse range of OT systems.
Your efforts will directly contribute to the reliability of SSE Transmission assets, optimizing costs and improving operational efficiency. You will engage with critical control systems such as GE PowerOn and AVEVA PI, playing a vital role in the successful execution of projects related to the commissioning and oversight of new cybersecurity systems during the RIIO-T2 & T3 phases.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in diagnosing and resolving faults, which may involve participating in a 24-hour standby rotation.
- Collaborate closely with the Transmission Control Centre to analyze the root causes of OT failures and implement improvement strategies. This will include thorough analysis of failure trends, influenced by factors such as weather conditions and electrical loads.
- Facilitate the introduction of innovative technologies, conduct detailed proof of concepts, and research emerging industry trends to recommend strategic enhancements.
- Engage in monitoring and reviewing the health and security of Cyber Security Transmission OT systems, participating in Cyber Response Activities as needed.
Qualifications
- A degree (or equivalent) in Computing, Engineering, or a Science-related field, or relevant experience with OT systems, including failure analysis and troubleshooting.
- An understanding of cybersecurity trends and familiarity with communication architectures supporting OT systems.
- Knowledge of AVEVA PI and GE PowerOn is preferred, although training will be provided.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively meet the needs of customers and suppliers.
- The ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a small team is essential.
It is mandatory for candidates to possess a full, valid driving license.
