Overview & Objective of the Position
Conducting surveillance across shopping centers, service zones, and communal spaces. Providing guidance to tenants regarding operational protocols; de-escalating conflicts and averting incidents through 'minimal intervention'; upholding fire, health, and safety standards while ensuring the security of the site. Responsibilities will also encompass control room oversight. During your duties, assist the public and individuals with mobility challenges, and provide First Aid (if certified) while adhering to 'customer service' principles at all times. All tasks must align with the OCS Group Health and Safety policy. Attention to personal grooming and hygiene is essential. Ensure compliance with company standards and regulations.
You will operate on a 5-day-on-3-day-off schedule, from 06:00 to 21:00, totaling 35.5 hours weekly, in a permanent, full-time capacity.Key Responsibilities
Commence shifts punctually in full uniform. Maintain a clean, professional appearance consistently. Ensure effective communication during shift transitions with the on-duty supervisor, including the transfer of shift keys, personal digital assistants, and updates on staff, contractors, and incidents from the previous shift. Stay informed about health and safety protocols. All actions must comply with the Health and Safety Policy as outlined in the Assignment Instructions. Possess a thorough understanding of fire alarm protocols. Act as an evacuation leader in case of significant incidents. Be well-acquainted with the locations of all utility rooms, service corridors, and elevators, both by name and location. Provide assistance to tenants during incidents, either in person or via surveillance systems. Support law enforcement presence on-site, whether in person, through surveillance, or by providing statements. Understand the responsibilities and authority as a member of the security team and recognize when to defer to police directives. Manage and de-escalate incidents within the shopping centers. Administer first aid as necessary (applicable only to certified first aiders). Ensure security personnel not trained in first aid are aware of the designated first aider on duty. Undertake control room responsibilities, including responding to phone inquiries, monitoring surveillance cameras (CCTV SIA Licence holders only), radio communications, contractor permits, logbooks, and Building Management Systems. Participate in on-call duties as scheduled through a rota system, shared equitably among trained personnel. Familiarize yourself with in-house radio operations and call signs. Identify daily operational needs and site requirements by adhering to on-site information handover protocols. Utilize patrol monitoring systems to assist in accident and incident management and prevention. During night shifts, maintain required check calls as necessary. Follow all managerial directives diligently. Ensure all tasks are performed safely, thoroughly, and in accordance with health and safety legislation, OCS Group policies, risk assessments, and method statements. Uphold confidentiality regarding all client and staff information. Report any maintenance or repair needs to the appropriate personnel and be prepared to escalate issues to understand repair timelines. Keep your workspace organized and tools securely stored at all times. Be knowledgeable about the required care standards regulations relevant to your role. Maintain courteous and effective communication with colleagues, tenants, and shoppers consistently. Be open to receiving and undertaking additional training as required. Adhere to all managerial instructions at all times.Qualifications and Experience
SIA licence (CCTV & Security Guarding where applicable) Proven experience in building relationships with clients. IOSH training is desirable. Strong communication skills to effectively engage with clients and OCS teams. Organized individual with a demonstrated ability to plan and manage workflows. Understanding of high-quality service delivery and its impact. Ability to adapt and respond to the dynamic needs of the role.
