Isle of Wight Painting and Decorating Professional

Maintenance and Repair Services are a key part of Mountjoy's operations, and we are seeking a skilled and experienced Decorator to join our team. As a Decorator, you will be responsible for ensuring that our clients' properties are well-maintained and look their best.
Key Responsibilities- Apply paint to surfaces, including walls, floors, doors, and cabinets, to ensure a high-quality finish.
- Mix, match, and apply paint, varnish, enamel, and other finishes to achieve the desired effect.
- Scrape, sandpaper, prime, or seal surfaces prior to painting to ensure a smooth finish.
- Clean walls to ensure proper adherence of paint and other finishes.
- Consider the client's needs and take steps to protect surfaces and fixtures during the painting process.
- Calculate the amount of materials required and select from approved suppliers to minimize waste.
- Fill cracks, holes, and joints with caulk, putty, plaster, or other fillers, using caulking guns or putty knives.
- Remove fixtures such as pictures, doorknobs, lamps, and switch covers prior to painting.
- Tape off and barrier areas when necessary.
- Apply touch-ups and second coats as needed.
- Clean up all equipment, including brushes and spray guns, and leave the area clean and tidy when complete.
- Work at heights to reach high ceilings or walls.
- Communicate effectively with clients and colleagues, explaining procedures and providing information as needed.
- Work as part of a team to ensure that lessons learned and good practices are shared among team members.
- Take a practical approach to health and safety, ensuring that you and others are safe at all times.
- A trade-specific qualification, minimum NVQ Level 2 or equivalent.
- A full current driving license.
- A DBS check is required before commencement of role.
- Over 5+ years of trade experience.
- A full clean driving license.
- Competence within your sphere of expertise.
- Plastering experience would be advantageous but not essential.
- Competence in a secondary skill (desirable).
