About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Registered Manager to lead our Children and Adolescent Mental Health Unit at Associated Wellbeing Ltd. As a key member of our management team, you will be responsible for providing clinical leadership, governance, and management to ensure the delivery of high-quality holistic care and a caring environment conducive to individual needs and practice research development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide effective clinical leadership, governance, and management to secure, sustain, and promote the reputation of Associated Wellbeing Ltd.
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality holistic care and create a caring environment conducive to individual needs and practice research development.
  • Liaise with social care regulators and local authorities to ensure satisfactory standards are maintained.
  • Manage the day-to-day running of the placement with 24-hour responsibility for the care of the Young Persons.
  • Uphold, adhere to, and implement the Information Governance standards and expectations.
  • Provide improvement, independence, and choice for Young Persons, ensuring they are treated with dignity at all times.
  • Manage the effective use of resources and maintain high levels of occupancy.
  • Comply with all regulatory requirements at all times and in particular the Regulations for the Registration and Inspection of the placement.
  • Ensure policy and procedures are implemented and understood by all staff to ensure the highest standard of care.
  • Provide clinical and operational leadership and management by being responsible and accountable for ensuring individual staff needs and organizational needs are met.
  • Oversee the day-to-day management and running of The Lighthouse with 24-hour responsibility for the care of the Young Persons and coordinate the staff teams accordingly in line with service demands and acuity.
  • Ensure policy and procedures are implemented and understood by all staff to ensure the highest standard of care.
  • Work within the professional boundaries in line with NMC guidance and be a positive role model to colleagues and ensure best practice is always demonstrated.
  • Be approachable and provide a regular presence on the shop floor as well as being consistent in all actions and decisions.
  • Registered managers are responsible for maintaining their own CQC registration.
  • Ensure you maintain your own NMC Nurse registration and comply with revalidation in line with NMC requirements.
  • As an employee, you are accountable to ensure that you know how to respond when you are concerned for the safety of a child, young person, or vulnerable adult.
  • As a senior manager, you will need to oversee and manage safeguarding issues and ensure the placement maintains action plans, high standards of documentation, and all reporting is completed to CQC requirements.
  • Participate and manage the on-call manager rota, providing advice to colleagues when required and at times this may involve attending the placement.
  • Ensure all CQC notifiable incidents are reported within 24 hours and ensure all incidents are recorded on Peninsula in a timely manner.
  • Conduct regular reviews with new employees during their probationary period and always conduct a sixth-monthly review to confirm the appointment or extend the probation period.
  • Ensure all staff are annually appraised and that required standards of performance are being achieved, manage under-performance through objective setting and regular reviews, and that regular supervisions occur in line with company policy.
  • Identify individual training needs in line with the placements objectives and the employees performance, arranging training and evaluating their effectiveness, and ensuring that staff have completed the required training each year.
  • Hold regular staff, Young Persons, and stakeholders meetings to provide and receive feedback, and administer the questionnaires provided as part of the company's Quality Assurance Systems.
  • Work collaboratively with the senior leadership team to deliver the set measurable outcomes expected by the company.
  • Work within the company's clinical governance policy and ensure lessons learnt and shared learning is completed where necessary.
  • Ensure that all GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) requirements are adhered to within the company.
  • Ensure complaints and suggestions are positively actioned and dealt with correctly.
  • Ensure all Clinical monitoring and audit systems are in situ.
  • Administration of medication in line with the policy and procedure.
  • Regularly monitor the delivery of care given by all staff ensuring that the physical, social, psychological, and emotional needs of the Service User are recognised, assessed, and met.
  • Ensure the Lighthouse and its processes are fully compliant with the Mental Capacity Act and that Young Persons are empowered to make choices where possible and where not, best interest decisions are made on their behalf involving all those necessary.
  • Ensure the placement is compliant with DoLS legislation.
  • Ensure that there is a regular programme of activities, which are arranged in line with the Young Persons needs.
  • Ensure the Young Persons receive a pleasant nutritional diet.
  • Ensure an active named nurse and key worker system for all the Young Persons.
  • Ensure the maintenance of the highest standards of care consistent with the requirements of CQC/Funding Authorities.
  • Arrange regular reviews with Social Workers, Young Persons, Relatives, and Key Workers.
  • Conduct a pre-admission assessment for all potential Young Persons in line with the admission policy.
  • Meet professional and legal responsibilities regarding the storage, handling, and administration of drugs.
  • Always ensure the protection and safety of Young Persons, which requires conducting regular health and safety checks and checks that the nurse call bell system and the fire alarm systems are always fully functional.
  • Personally have a full understanding and working knowledge of all Associated Wellbeing/Lighthouse policies and procedures and ensure that all these policies are always applied and to inform of any updates that may be required to senior management.
  • Understand the legal requirements of the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and the Regulations and other legislations and ensure the placement complies with Essential Standards of Quality and Safety, and whatever legislation or relevant standards that may be in force at any time.
  • Manage the effective use of resources and maintain high levels of occupancy.
  • Budget holder - Ensure that indicated budgets are being managed effectively.
  • All non-clinical audits systems are in situ and monitored.
  • Undertake initial investigations relating to clinical and disciplinary matters, grievances, etc.
  • Co-ordinate and participate in the recruitment of Nurses and Support Workers.
  • Ensure staff files are updated and annual leave and sickness is managed.
  • Ensure that all annual leave requests are co-ordinated to prevent disruption in the placement.
  • Control sickness absence by always conducting back to work interviews and correctly applying company policy.
  • Meet professional and legal responsibilities with Health and Safety issues and ensure that all monitoring requirements are met.
  • Remain professionally updated and ensure care in all areas is delivered in line with the latest research to promote evidence-based practice.
  • Ensure that all Young Persons have a copy of the children's guide and that all the necessary funding documents are completed.
  • Ensure the security and confidentiality of records and information relating to the service.
