Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, United Kingdom Oxford Health NHS Trust Full time

Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Psychologist to enhance our Adult ASD and ADHD Services.

We invite applications from dedicated psychologists who are passionate about working in the fields of autism and ADHD assessment and treatment. Ideal candidates will possess relevant experience with this demographic, a commitment to delivering exceptional care, and a desire to join our supportive team. This position is particularly suited for those nearing qualification or recently qualified, looking for a developmental opportunity within a band 7-8a framework.

The successful candidate will integrate into a cohesive and proficient multi-disciplinary team comprising professionals from psychiatry, speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, nursing, and psychology, including a dedicated Reasonable Adjustments Service. We offer extensive training opportunities in autism and ADHD assessment and will support your professional growth in therapeutic practices with autistic individuals and those with ADHD. You will collaborate closely with an experienced consultant clinical psychologist who will provide mentorship and guidance as you advance in your career. Additionally, the team maintains strong connections with Community Mental Health Teams (CMHTs), inpatient services, Social Care, and other mental health providers.

We encourage inquiries or visits to our modern facilities.

Key Responsibilities

This role promises to be both engaging and diverse. The Clinical Psychologist will conduct diagnostic assessments for autism and ADHD, as well as assist in triage and management of waiting lists.

Furthermore, the psychologist will deliver psychological assessments and interventions, utilizing both group and individual formats, employing methodologies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), and other applicable models.

The role includes collaboration with patients and teams to foster co-produced service development and involvement in supervising trainees and assistant psychologists.

In this position, you will receive expert clinical supervision and management support, along with access to a variety of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activities and a robust network of psychological therapists in the region. There are ample opportunities for service enhancement, evaluation/research, and teaching/training. The service collaborates closely with the Oxford Institute of Clinical Psychology Training and Research, regularly hosting trainees for clinical placements and research initiatives.

We are committed to supporting flexible working arrangements to accommodate work-life balance and external commitments.
