This is an exciting opportunity to work in neuropsychological rehabilitation at the Community Head Injury Service (CHIS) based in Aylesbury. CHIS is a county-wide service for patients with traumatic and acquired brain injury with a national reputation for clinical excellence and received an Outstanding rating from the Care Quality Commission's most recent review.
About the RoleYou will join two clinical neuropsychologists providing input to our two inter-disciplinary community teams - rehabilitation and working out (vocational rehabilitation). The post is a 0 WTE permanent position at Band 8a, but we would consider a Band 7 with preceptorship to 8a for the right individual who doesn't currently have the necessary experience for an 8a position. We would also very much welcome applications from those interested in part-time hours.
Key Responsibilities- Provide consultation and teaching to other health professionals and contribute to service development and evaluation.
- Work with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course and presenting with the full range of clinical severity across the full range of care settings.
- Develop and use complex multi-media materials for presentations in public, professional and academic settings.
Essential
- Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS).
- Evidence of continuing professional development as recommended by the British Psychological Society (BPS).
Desirable
- Experience of teaching, training and/or professional and clinical supervision.
- Some progress made towards formal post-doctoral training in Clinical Neuropsychology to qualify for Full Practitioner Membership of the British Psychology Society's Division of Clinical Neuropsychology (or equivalent training/experience).
- Formal training in supervision of other psychologists.
Experience
- Assessed experience of working as a qualified clinical psychologist for a minimum of the equivalent of 2 years within the field of clinical neuropsychology and acquired brain injury.
- Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course and presenting with the full range of clinical severity across the full range of care settings.
- Doctoral level knowledge of research design and methodology, including complex multivariate data analysis as practiced within the field of clinical psychology.
Desirable
- Well-developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, highly technical, and clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS.
- Skills in providing consultation to other professional and non-professional groups.
- Knowledge of legislation in relation to patients with neurological disorders and mental health difficulties. Post-doctoral level knowledge of neuropsychological practice including - neuroanatomy, neurological disorders, neuropsychological assessment and neuropsychological rehabilitation.
