Job Title: Environmental Health and Safety Advisor

We are seeking a proactive and self-motivated Environmental Health and Safety Advisor to join our Head Office team on a full-time, permanent basis.

Job Summary:

The primary purpose of this lead role is to take a hands-on approach to environmental, health & safety control, arrangements & documentation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Preparing, reviewing & updating internal & external EHS policies & documentation in consultation with relevant personnel (e.g. safe operating procedures, risk assessments, work permits)
  • Confidentially coordinating the health surveillance programme, analysing reports
  • Producing and owning content for a regular EHS Bulletin
  • Overseeing vehicle & driver fleet management, ensuring full compliance
  • Managing internal & external training, liaising with Line Managers, leading monthly Training Meetings, monitoring quality
  • Overseeing DSE, PPE & first aid management, consulting on specific concerns, carrying out assessments
  • Serving as Chief Fire Marshal, maintaining the fire risk assessment, overseeing fire safety checks, co-ordinating activities of the Fire Marshal Team & leading periodic Fire Marshal Meetings
  • Undertaking regular premises inspections, supporting department leads with remedial actions
  • Ensuring the Company meets its statutory requirements as regards environment, health, safety & welfare
  • Ensuring all periodic safety inspections, maintenance & testing is undertaken at appropriate intervals by internal & external providers
  • Maintaining the central accident book, recording and reporting all incidents, monitoring, investigating and ensuring that appropriate remedial action is taken in all cases
Requirements:
  • NEBOSH General Certificate essential / NEBOSH National Diploma preferred (or equivalents)
  • Experience in a manufacturing, semiconductor, engineering or warehousing environment preferred
  • Flexible, conscientious attitude to work
  • High standard of written & verbal communication, with a confident & professional phone manner
  • IT literate, with a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word & Outlook
