Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Dean to join our team at Widener University. The successful candidate will provide administrative support to the College of Arts and Sciences, working closely with the Dean and other faculty and staff members.

Key Responsibilities
  • Recruitment and Onboarding
    • Assist with coordinating recruitment efforts for new students, including Pride Experience Days and Admitted Students Days.
    • Work closely with Associate Deans and Chairs to support the pre-registration of incoming students and serve as a point of contact for questions during the summer.
  • Advising and Retention
    • Serve as the primary support for students in need of additional advising based on progress reports and semester grades.
    • Develop and implement strategies to identify students struggling academically and provide support to help them succeed.
  • Meeting and Event Support
    • Provide meeting support for the Dean as requested.
    • Plan and coordinate College events that involve faculty and staff.
  • Grant Writing and Community Relations
    • Work closely with the Dean and other staff to support grant writing efforts, including drafting grant proposals and monitoring existing grant awards.
    • Support efforts to create and build relationships with alumni, industry partners, and non-profit organizations to develop opportunities for students.
Requirements
  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in a field within the humanities, social sciences, or science disciplines.
  • Five years of professional experience in different aspects of administration and business practices, preferably in higher education.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • A Ph.D. or Ed.D. may be substituted for two years of professional experience.
Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Hours
  • Ability to work in an office setting using a computer.
  • This position may be eligible for a hybrid or remote work arrangement.
