About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Bilingual Classroom Assistant to join our team at Plumstead Manor School. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in supporting the learning of our EAL (English as an Additional Language) students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to EAL learners in class, under the guidance of a teacher
  • Lead small group withdrawal interventions to boost and accelerate progress
  • Monitor the achievement of EAL students, recording and reporting on their progress

Requirements:

  • Level 2 qualifications in English and Maths
  • Ability to speak, and ideally read and write, in one or more additional languages
  • Flexibility to work across multiple languages and support pupils from diverse backgrounds and needs
  • Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with teachers and other staff

Desirable Qualifications and Experience:

  • TEFL/ESOL qualification
  • Knowledge of best practice in meeting the needs of EAL learners
  • Experience of teaching English as an additional second language
