Dunfermline, Fife, United Kingdom NHS Scotland Full time

Salary: £11,500 per session, 4-5 sessions per week (Tuesday and Friday preferable). Option to alternate weekly between 4 sessions and 6 sessions.

Are you considering a salaried GP role? St Brycedale Surgery is located in a vibrant community, centrally positioned within the picturesque Kingdom of Fife, providing easy access to major cities. Kirkcaldy is recognized as one of Scotland's greenest towns, known for its excellent local reputation and a warm, welcoming team.

As a dedicated training practice, we take pride in our two partners who are approved trainers. Our practice team enjoys the diverse experiences that training offers and finds fulfillment in nurturing the next generation of GPs while staying updated with clinical advancements. Being a training practice is both rewarding and vital for the growth of our primary care workforce.

Currently, we are a four-partner practice committed to delivering high-quality care within a friendly and motivated team, characterized by low staff turnover. Our support staff includes one salaried GP, two Advanced Nurse Practitioners, one Practice Nurse, and a CTAC Nurse. Additionally, we have a Mental Health Nurse, a Health Care Assistant, and several receptionists trained in phlebotomy. Our ANPs are prescribers who manage most patients with minor illnesses and also handle home visits and emergency surgeries as needed.

Our appointment system is designed for efficiency, with most GP appointments available on the same day. House call requests are discussed collectively by all partners. A typical day may involve:

  • Approximately 22 routine appointments, including telephone consultations, along with a share of home visits or emergency surgery patients.

Key Features of the Role:

  • Ideal for a portfolio GP with interests outside of clinical practice.
  • 4-5 sessions per week (Tuesday and Friday preferred) with flexibility to alternate between 4 and 6 sessions.
  • Approximately 7,600 registered patients.
  • Modern, purpose-built premises owned by the partnership.
  • Daily appointment quota of 22 (mix of face-to-face and telephone) plus shared responsibility for home visits or emergency surgeries.
  • Pro-rata allocation of protected administrative time each week.
  • Established training practice for both postgraduate and undergraduate training.
  • Permanent contract with a salary of £11,500 per session, governed by the standard BMA contract.
  • Eligibility for a Health Board Golden Hello.
  • Optimized workflow to minimize GP administrative workload.
  • Full complement of secretarial staff managing dictation, insurance reports, and other documentation.
  • Provision of a weekly on-site clinic at a private care home.
  • Nurse-led chronic disease management clinics.
  • Support for continued personal development.
  • Dedicated time for doctors' meetings.
  • Strong connections with the local LMC.
  • Comprehensive indemnity coverage.
  • Excellent communication among GPs, fostering a collaborative team environment.
  • Care home ANP home visiting service.
  • Utilization of Emis, Docman, and Lexacom systems.
  • No extended hours commitment required.

To apply, please submit a CV along with a supporting application letter.

NHS Scotland is committed to promoting equality and diversity within our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. We aim for our workforce to be truly representative, ensuring that every employee feels respected and empowered to perform at their best.
