Interim Chief People Officer


Are you an experienced HR leader with a commitment to enhancing the healthcare landscape? Our client, a prominent children's hospice, is in search of a proactive and strategic Chief People Officer to join their team on an interim basis.

This role presents a unique chance to influence the organization’s human resources strategy and play a vital role in its overall development and success.

Contract Details: Fixed-term contract for 6 months

Work Arrangement: Full-time with hybrid working options (3 days a week onsite)

Compensation: Approximately £75K

Location: North London


In the capacity of Chief People Officer, you will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer and provide strategic HR direction throughout the organization, ensuring that the necessary resources, capabilities, systems, and processes are established to deliver effective services to management, staff, and volunteers.

Your responsibilities will encompass managing the entire employee and volunteer lifecycle while ensuring that the organizational culture is aligned with growth objectives.


Key Responsibilities:


• Lead the creation and execution of a talent management strategy, including succession planning and defining key competencies for each department and role.
• Offer strategic counsel on all HR-related matters, including policies, procedures, and risk management.
• Supervise daily HR operations, including employee relations, absence management, and policy revisions.
• Enhance the organizational culture, ensuring that core values are integrated into people practices.
• Advocate for equality and diversity initiatives, fostering a positive workplace environment.
• Provide strategic oversight for the HR function, ensuring adherence to quality standards and offering guidance to the HR team.
• Inspire, coach, and lead the HR team, promoting collaboration and teamwork across departments.


Candidate Requirements:
• Available to commence a contract within the next few weeks.

A seasoned HR professional with a proven track record across a comprehensive HR spectrum, particularly during periods of organizational transformation.

• Previous experience in the healthcare sector or hospice environment is preferred. Experience in volunteer management is highly advantageous.
• Exceptional leadership abilities with a focus on developing high-performing teams.
• A strategic mindset capable of translating overarching strategies into actionable operational plans and aligning business objectives with a people strategy.
• Experience in crafting innovative recruitment and talent strategies utilizing digital and social media resources, events, partnerships, and staff referrals.
• Strong understanding of HR and learning and development legal requirements.
• Excellent communication skills with the capacity to build and nurture strong relationships with partners and stakeholders.
