Position Summary

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will play a crucial role in our operations.

  • Location: Wednesbury (WS10)
  • Salary: £39,139 Per Annum
  • Shift Pattern: 4 on 4 off (06:00 - 18:00 / 18:00 - 06:00), 42 hours per week
  • Contract Type: Permanent

We are looking for a talented and experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team at a leading parcel delivery organization. The ideal candidate will be tasked with the upkeep and repair of conveyor systems and sorting mechanisms to guarantee the seamless operation of our distribution center.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct routine assessments of conveyor systems and sorting mechanisms to detect potential issues and ensure peak performance.
* Address breakdowns and resolve technical challenges with conveyor systems and sorting mechanisms, including diagnosing faulty components, replacing parts, and resetting systems.
* Perform preventative maintenance on conveyor systems and sorting mechanisms, including lubrication, cleaning, and calibration.
* Collaborate with the maintenance team to formulate and execute maintenance schedules, procedures, and protocols.
* Identify areas for enhancement in the maintenance of conveyor systems and sorting mechanisms, and provide recommendations to management.
* Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations while maintaining a safe and tidy work environment.
* Offer guidance and support to junior technicians and apprentices.

Qualifications and Skills

Demonstrated experience in a comparable maintenance technician role, ideally within a fast-paced industrial or manufacturing setting.
* Comprehensive knowledge of conveyor systems and sorting mechanisms, including electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic components.
* Strong troubleshooting abilities and the capacity to resolve technical issues promptly and effectively.
* Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team, exhibiting excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Effective organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
* Qualification in an engineering or technical field, such as electrical or mechanical engineering.
* Familiarity with health and safety regulations and experience in maintaining a safe and clean work environment.
* Willingness to work a 4 on 4 off shift pattern, including weekends and nights.
