Logistics First Line Manager

Job Summary:
Ideal Recruit Ltd is seeking a highly skilled Transport Operations Manager to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis. As a key member of our logistics team, you will be responsible for overseeing the execution of our Transport Plan, leading and motivating a small team to deliver General Haulage KPI's, ensuring customer requirements are exceeded and compliance requirements are adhered to.
Key Responsibilities:
- Transport Plan Execution: Manage the execution of the Transport Plan through effective planning and allocation of resources to ensure delivery times are always met and 100% accuracy is achieved.
- Data Management: Manage various data streams to support the operation, ensuring accurate and timely data is available to inform business decisions.
- Commercial Acumen: Hold an in-depth understanding of all commercial elements of each customer contract, ensuring optimal revenue streams and cost savings.
- Team Performance: Raise competencies and performance in all areas of General Haulage activity to contribute to business efficiency and gain a competitive advantage.
- Attendance and Absence: Proactively manage attendance and absence levels within your team in adherence to company policy.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with company and local statutory obligations regarding working time regulations (WTD) and operator licensing.
- Collaboration: Work collaboratively with all other shifts to ensure seamless operation and effective communication.
- Representation: Act as a key representative for the Company's transport department, ensuring effective communication and representation at all levels.
- Health and Safety: Ensure all transport operations, practices, and procedures are managed in line with the Company's Health & Safety Policy and other statutory requirements, including EU Driver's Hours Regulations.
Requirements:
- Transport Experience: Currently operating at a similar level within Transport (Essential)
- Leadership Experience: Min 3 years' experience in leading a team in a Transport Logistics Operations environment (Essential) (5 Years Desirable)
- Technical Skills: Competent with Microsoft Excel & Word
- Analytical Skills: Ability to produce data and information to identify opportunities and cost-saving initiatives
- Leadership Skills: Able to demonstrate strong leadership skills
- Interpersonal Skills: Excellent influencing and interpersonal skills
- Communication Skills: Strong communication skills, both written and oral, at all levels
- Commercial Awareness: Commercial awareness
- Legislative Knowledge: Good understanding of EU legislation
- Transport Operations Knowledge: Demonstrated knowledge and experience of transport operations
- Driving Licence: Full UK driving licence
- DBS Check: Successful candidate(s) will be required to undergo a basic Disclosure and Barring Services (DBS) Check.
