Job Opportunity in Plastic Surgery

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Plastic Surgeon to join our team at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust. As a Consultant Plastic Surgeon, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our Plastic Surgery department.

About the Role

This is a full-time (10 PA) post, and the successful candidate will work as a member of a team of Consultant Plastic Surgeons, based at the University Hospital Birmingham NHS Trust. You will have opportunities to have commitments in Solihull Hospitals and will be part of the Breast Reconstruction team, working closely with the Breast Surgery team.

The unit provides a high-volume DIEP flap service, and the work will cover all aspects of OncoPlastic and Breast Reconstruction surgery. You will be expected to contribute to departmental teaching and support juniors with projects leading to publications and presentations. Funding is available for approved study leave as defined in the Trust study leave policy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our Plastic Surgery department
  • Working as a member of a team of Consultant Plastic Surgeons, based at the University Hospital Birmingham NHS Trust
  • Participating in MDTs and departmental consultant meetings and contributing to audits, quality improvement projects, and clinical governance
  • Continuing professional development and staying up-to-date with the latest advancements in Plastic Surgery
Person Specification
  • Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC), with licence to practice
  • FRCS(Plast) or equivalent
  • On the GMC Specialist Register in Plastic Surgery or CCT in plastic surgery within 6 months at time of interview
