About the Role:

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced engineering professional to assist the Engineering Manager in the day-to-day management of the engineering function at our Barking garage. As a Deputy Engineering Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring that our fleet of buses is maintained to the highest standards, while also contributing to the development of our engineering team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Engineering Manager in the management of the engineering function, including planning, prioritizing, and analyzing tasks and projects.
  • Ensure that all vehicles are maintained to the required standards, including regular inspections and maintenance schedules.
  • Develop and implement procedures to improve vehicle availability and reduce downtime.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to identify and implement cost-saving initiatives.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior engineers and technicians.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a similar role, preferably in the transportation or engineering industry.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering and vehicle maintenance procedures.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and analyze tasks and projects.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Transport CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) or willingness to obtain.
