About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Senior Screening Technician to join our Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Screening Programme at Cambridge University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality screening services to eligible men in our local communities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the Screening Technicians in the day-to-day management and supervision of screening delivery, ensuring efficient, effective, and timely working across all community sites.
  • Assist the Screening Programme Manager in conducting annual appraisals and recruitment for the Screening Technicians.
  • Hold a Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (CAVA) or equivalent, and be willing to work towards this qualification to train future Screening Technicians.
  • Ensure abdominal ultrasound scanning is undertaken to a high standard and in accordance with national standard operating procedures, maintaining and continuously developing high standards of care.
Requirements
  • Fully accredited screening technician with a Level 3 Diploma for Health Screeners.
  • Good standard of general education, including 5 GCSEs or equivalent.
  • Accurate data entry skills and familiarity with keyboard use and personal computers.
  • Understanding of hospital environment and patient care and confidentiality, as well as common medical terminology.
  • Ability to make unsupervised judgments on patient enquiries and problems.
