Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Control Systems Engineer to join our team at Lord Search & Selection. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for the development, installation, and commissioning of state-of-the-art control systems in an automated food production environment.

Our client is a leading food processing company that is at the forefront of developing innovative food processing technology. They supply to major retailers across the UK and Europe and are looking for a skilled engineer to help drive their business forward.

The Role

As a Control Systems Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering highly automated solutions from both a software and hardware perspective. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Writing and developing PLC program logic
  • Assisting in the creation of a software roadmap
  • Creating and leading simulation modeling to validate code work before rollout
  • Working closely with the Controls Engineering Manager to develop a software roadmap and costing for control panels, site wiring, and PLC development and commissioning
  • Monitoring project timings across software and hardware
  • Ensuring designs are cost-effective and simply manufactured

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A degree or equivalent in electrical engineering or a related discipline
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience as a controls engineer in a complex M&E design facility such as food processing, automation, data centers, automated warehousing, or logistics automation
  • Experience with Siemens S7, TIA Portal
  • A comprehensive understanding of industrial design, utilizing AutoCAD, Revit, or similar packages
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Ability to write and amend PLC code
