We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Specialist Child and Family Worker to join our team at Essex County Council. As a Specialist Child and Family Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting children and families with complex needs, providing practical and specialist advice, and acting as a lead coordinator for other support services.
About the Role:
The Specialist Child and Family Worker will work closely with families to build strong relationships, promote positive change, and manage safeguarding risks to children. You will also take the lead on an area of professional practice, such as mental health, and operate flexibly to meet the needs of families, including some work outside of normal office hours.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with children and families, including those with multiple and complex needs.
- Provide practical and specialist advice to families, including support with daily living tasks and accessing community resources.
- Act as a lead coordinator for other support services, ensuring a seamless and effective delivery of services to families.
- Manage safeguarding risks to children, including identifying and mitigating potential risks.
- Take the lead on an area of professional practice, such as mental health, and provide support and guidance to team members.
- Operate flexibly to meet the needs of families, including some work outside of normal office hours.
Requirements:
- Significant practical experience of working with children and families with multiple and complex needs.
- Educated to degree level or equivalent by experience in a relevant area, such as domestic abuse, substance misuse, education, mental health, parenting, etc.
- Effective communication skills with a range of children, families, and professionals.
- Ability to keep records on our computer-based system, completing assessments and other key documents in a way that is accessible to children and families, yet professional.
