About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Fabricator to join our team at Onyx-Conseil. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for leading the fabrication of metalwork products, ensuring high-quality standards and efficiency in our manufacturing process.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the fabrication of metalwork products, following engineering drawings, plans, and technical instructions.
  • Operate tools, machinery, and welding equipment, applying your knowledge and experience to achieve high-quality results.
  • Support the Quality Team in preparing standard operating procedures for the area and working to agreed standards.
  • Cut and form sheet metal, fabricate sheet metal/pipes/flange and fittings, and inspect welds to ensure structural soundness and identify any defects.
  • Report non-conformances and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with goods in/out as required to support the warehouse team and be responsible for health and safety in the work area.
Requirements
  • Experience in a similar role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in MIG/TIG/ARC welding.
  • Demonstrable skills in reading and interpreting technical drawings.
  • Experience working with a range of materials, including stainless, alloys, and mild steels.
  • A L3 NVQ Fabricating and Welding Qualification, a City and Guilds L3 in Fabricating, or an advanced modern apprenticeship in Fabricating and Welding is desirable.
Desirable Skills
  • A background in working to aerospace, defence, nuclear, or similar industry standards.
  • Experience of continuous improvement to drive efficiency.
  • Experience of welding pressure vessels and pressure testing.
  • Willingness to support and develop an apprentice.

  • Great communication skills, both written and verbal.
